Quick start: Build the update client
  

The update client is a stand-alone executable that will fully manage the tasks and processes relevant to an update.

The client configuration screens define all the attributes relevant to the update client. The notes that follow relate to items you will find in the panel hyperlinks for the configure client actions.

Company and product

Begin by specifying information about your company and your product. The update client will need to know the name of your main product executable so that it can close and restart this application as part of the update process.

Update server

The most important information is, of-course, the location of your update server. The server location can be a file share, HTTP or FTP server. A username and password can be specified if your server requires it. Note that the server address must include the resource UpdateConfig.xml. This is the XML file that will be configured at the time when you need to deploy an update.

Branding

In most cases your will also want to brand the update client. The client graphics and messages are fully configurable. Note that the update client is multi-lingual. The client will automatically display messages based on the language of the user's operating system (Korean text below):

Build and deploy

The final step is to build and deploy the update client as part of your product installation.
